Resin-based grout that resists stains, acids and moisture and never needs sealing, with a higher price and a harder install.
Epoxy grout is made from resin and hardener, not cement. Once cured, it is non-porous, strong and highly resistant to staining, acids, grease and mildew. It does not need sealing and keeps its color well. That makes it a favorite for showers, kitchen counters, backsplashes, commercial kitchens and floors where stains and chemicals are a constant fight.
The downsides are cost and skill. Epoxy costs more than cement grout, sets quickly and must be mixed, applied and cleaned within a short window or it leaves a stubborn film on the tile. It can look slightly plastic and some colors may amber in strong sun. It is harder to remove than cement later. Installed by experienced hands, it is the most durable grout for wet and high-stain areas, and many owners find the lower upkeep well worth the price.
