A flexible, pre-mixed grout that resists stains and cracking, a middle ground between cement and epoxy.
Urethane grout is a newer product that arrives ready to use, with no mixing of powders and water. It is flexible, resists staining and mildew and holds color consistently from batch to batch. It cleans up more easily than epoxy and gives installers more working time. It suits showers, backsplashes and floors where owners want low upkeep without the difficulty of epoxy.
Its limits are cost and availability. Urethane grout costs more than cement and may not come in every color. It is not always suitable for the harshest chemical environments where epoxy excels. Some products can feel slightly rubbery and may need specific cleaning products. Installation follows the maker instructions closely, because shortcuts lead to haze and poor bonding. When it fits the room, urethane offers a clean, flexible and nearly sealing-free finish.
