White, gray or charcoal? How color changes the look of tile, how it ages and how color sealers recolor old grout.
Grout color has more influence on the look of tile than most people expect. A grout close to the tile color blends the pattern into a calm field. A contrasting color outlines each tile and gives a graphic, patterned effect. White grout is crisp and bright but shows dirt. Dark grout hides stains but can show soap film and hard water. Mid-tone grays and warm neutrals are popular because they forgive daily life.
If your grout color is wrong or stained, a color sealer can change it without regrouting. Color sealers are applied to cleaned grout lines and form a durable, stain-resistant coating in the shade you choose. They cannot fix cracks or crumbling grout, and going from dark to light is harder than the reverse. Always test shades in your own light and next to your own tile. Our consultation brings samples so you can see the color before committing.
