Tile Stain and Rust Removal

Rust, hard water, coffee, wine, oil and mystery stains identified and treated with the right poultice or cleaner for your tile.

A stain is a puzzle. Rust from a bottle or a metal drain, a ring from a plant pot, grease behind the stove, coffee, wine, dye from a towel, tea or the orange blush that comes from iron in well water all look different and respond to different treatments. The wrong product can set a stain permanently, etch the surface or bleach the color around it. Guessing with whatever is under the sink is how many small stains become permanent ones.

We work out what the stain is first by looking at its color, location and the surface it is on. Then we choose a targeted treatment: a rust remover safe for the tile, an alkaline cleaner for oils, a poultice that draws the stain out of stone or a specialty product for dye. We test, apply, let it work and rinse or lift it away, repeating gently if needed. If a stain cannot be fully removed, we explain what is realistic and what options remain, from color blending to replacement of a single tile.

Identify first

Rust, oil, organic and mineral stains each need their own treatment, so we diagnose before we act.

Targeted products

We use treatments matched to the stain and to the tile, so nothing is etched or bleached.

Poultices for stone

Porous stone needs poultices that pull stains out from below the surface.

If a stain is permanent, we tell you honestly and discuss alternatives.

Questions

Tile Stain and Rust Removal FAQ

Can rust stains be removed from tile?

Often yes, with a rust remover safe for the surface. Stone needs special handling.

Why is my tile orange near the drain?

Iron in water or rust from metal parts is a common cause. Treatments and water filtration help.

Will vinegar remove stains?

It can etch stone and does not touch many stains. Better to use targeted products.

What if the stain does not come out?

We discuss options such as repeat treatments, blending or replacing the tile.

Can old stains be removed?

Many can, though older stains take more time.
