Look for a local, accountable company
Check that the company has a local presence, a phone that is answered and reviews from real customers. Ask for references you can call.
Be careful with offers that arrive as flyers with very low prices.
Ask about the process
A good company explains how it cleans, what products it uses and why. Ask how it protects stone, what happens if it finds loose tile and how it handles cure times.
Vague answers are a warning sign.
Get a written scope
A proper proposal lists rooms, steps, products, color, sealing, caulk and what is not included. It should explain what happens if hidden damage is found.
Compare scopes, not just totals.
Ask to see samples
Ask for grout color samples and a small test patch. Good companies are glad to show results on your own tile before they do the whole job.
This is especially important for recoloring.
Check paperwork
Ask what business registration and coverage your area requires and ask to see documents rather than take anyone at their word. Read the contract and keep a copy.
Ask who will be in your home.
Red flags
Watch out for pressure to sign today, large cash deposits, no written scope, claims that a product is permanent or that stains will never return and prices far below others.
Trust your judgment.
Choose the company that explains its process, shows samples and puts everything in writing.
