Old, failed and unwanted grout carefully cut out so tile stays undamaged and new work can bond properly.
Taking old grout out is the most skilled part of any regrouting job. Cut too shallow and the new grout will not hold. Cut too deep or too wide and you chip tile edges, scratch glaze or damage the setting bed. Hard modern grouts and epoxy are especially tough, and some old grouts are hardened by decades of sealer and dirt. The job also makes fine dust, so it needs real dust control.
We use the right tool for the job: manual saws and carbide scrapers for delicate tile, oscillating tools with the right blades for standard lines and vacuum-assisted systems to catch dust at the source. We remove grout to a consistent depth, clean out the joint and check for loose or hollow tiles. If you only need removal, for example before a tile replacement or while another contractor finishes, we can provide that. We protect floors, fixtures and furniture and clean up thoroughly afterward.
Delicate glass and glazed tile call for gentle hand tools, and tough grouts need power tools with the right blades.
Joints are cut to an even depth so new grout bonds fully and lasts.
Vacuum-assisted tools capture dust at the source so the home stays cleaner.
We tap and inspect tile as we go and report any loose or damaged pieces.
